Tease by Amanda Maciel Review

Tease

Just to start i would like to say that i haven't written a lot of reviews so sorry if its not as in depth as you would like but hopefully it will help your decision on whether to read this book or not.

This is a debut novel and i have to say i found it a fantastic read, its a YA book and for me the reason i read it is because im stuck in a certain genre and wanted to try something different. I thought a young adult book would be an easier read since its written for a younger audience.

The book itself was a nice surprise, considering the subject i thought i wouldnt enjoy it. Since bullying is such a touchy subject with a lot of people its definitely a risk to write about and get it right.

The book is about a 16 year old girl that commits suicide after she was bullied at school. The story is told from the perspective of sara who is one of the girls waiting to stand trial for the bullying and possibly being the reason emma killed herself. Its strange because as you read you find that emma wasnt as innocent in the situation as first believed and you find yourself feeling sorry for sara but still not condoning what she has done. I think she was caught up in a situation she didnt know how to get out of and she was hurt. I think everyone can relate to either one of them in real life. Everyones talked behind peoples backs and spread gossip even if they thought it was just in fun. This book kind of blurs the lines a bit and tries to show that things arent as straightforward as they may seem.

The book is written in a past/present format. It tells of saras situation now and the past seems to be in a series of flashbacks when she is talking to her lawyer or therapist. Can get a little bit confusing.

Overall i gave this book 4 stars as i think it was fantastic and i will look forward to future books from this author.

Celestra Series Review So Far

Hey,

Today i thought i would do something different as i am still putting down my book ideas in writing.....that will come in a few days.

Im going to do a review on a series im reading at the moment, its the Celestra series by Addison Moore. I believe its a teenage fiction based around angels. Again its in the paranormal romance genre lol, i'll never get away from it!! I am currently on book 3 which is called Burn so i will basically be reviewing the first 2 books which are Ethereal and Tremble. Total of 8 books in the series but book 7 is split into 2 parts so i guess there's really 9.

So far so good for a paranormal series, the books are left on cliffhangers to make you want to read the next one and so on. I think it might get a bit long winded towards the end though as its not a particularly fast paced story. Its based primarily around Skyla messenger who finds out in book 1 that she is descended from a group of angels called celestra, they are deemed the most dangerous so a lot of other factions try to kill them off. There are 4 different kinds with different powers. She is in fact a pure of her kind which makes her more sought after. There is of course a love triangle as there always seems to be these days. As she has just moved house (into a dead celestra's house no less) with her mum and sister and her new step family. Its helpful to add she never gets on with her stepfather and there is always a lot of friction between them. The 2 guys are called logan and gage and they are cousins. She meets logan and falls for him, he is a celestra too and as its too dangerous for 2 celestras to be together he asks his cousin gage to pose as her boyfriend as he is from another faction. The problem is she falls for him too! He says he has had a vision from the future about them marrying! Logan decides to step back and allow gage and skyla to have a proper relationship but she always pines after him. Enter another male, who is a sector (still not 100% sure what this is but its more powerful than an angel). He poses as a school teacher and he wants skyla to be his wife also lol! Nice to be popular!! So on and on it keeps going round in circles and she's still kissing them all to find answers.

This has been the main storyline so far, its more of a romance at the moment and not a lot of action but it implies we are getting closer and closer to war and characters are being found out. Its an interesting read, i think i will do a more in depth review after i have read burn as its harder to review 2 books at a time :)

More tomorrow...................................

Update and promise to continue blog lol

I have only just this minute joined 750 words and i thought perhaps i would copy and paste my 750 words per day onto my blog? I keep promising to write more but i just cannot seem to get motivated and its getting me down. I keep reading the same genre and want to start my novel but words just wont come. I have seen the link for 750words.com on the oca group on facebook and thought id give it a go and see if it gets my creative juices flowing! I have just postponed 2 of my 3 oca courses and i am concentrating on just the writing skills for the moment and will go on to complete the other 2 one at a time after i have completed it. I feel like i took on way too much and got slightly alarmed at the amount of work and assignments i had in my diary lol. It seems to have helped to just have to worry about one course at a time. It had become a chore to write instead of a pleasure and thats not how i wanted it to be. I struggle with what to write so maybe i will use this 750 words as a daily blog and also double up and use it as my daily notebook for as much as i love to write, im a bit of a typer at the moment and any writing is better than non regardless of the way its done.

What else????.....

Oh..im not reading as much as i would like to be, i have a long list of books to try and read from my tutor and will admit to starting many of them but not finishing them as i just cant seem to get into them at all. I fear there is no way round this and i will be stuck in the paranormal fantasy genre till the end of my days :) oh well at least i enjoy it!

I did find a fantastic site called wattpad and even went as far as to download the app on my phone so i could read out and about when i get the chance. Its all wannabe writers, although im sure some have been published by now....they are fantastic. Some of them are a little basic but they are just learning. Some should be already published books in my opinion, they are just that good!

I doubt today i will make my 750 words but its a start and at least i have something down. Im at 431 words so i think its great for day 1 of continuous work. Ha.

To finish i will just say as a spoiler tomorrow im thinking of doing some book ideas. I want to write a book by the time i complete my degree and think as i get better at writing i can redraft etc but at the moment im just trying to put together a storyline, if i want it to be part of a series and maybe thinking of separate chapters and different obstacles. To be continued......................................520 words lol

E. Van. Lowe - Boyfriend from Hell review

I read this book based on some good reviews and a recommendation but really wish i hadnt wasted the time. I found it very young and condescending even for a young adult book. There are a few YA series i have enjoyed and find them easy reads but feel like this was over explained and very forced.

The book is based from one persons point of view, this being a teenage girl called megan. Relationships are formed and break apart with no real build up or explanation. I found it that bad to read that i didnt even finish it and based my review on what i had read. I did read over 3/4 of it but couldnt bear anymore even though i tried to push through it.

If anyone had read this book and enjoyed it, please let me know.

Study Update

Well i have to say student finance and the open college of arts were super fast. It took less than 2 weeks from applying for student finance to being enrolled. I have my online access as a student and i am now awaiting my course materials. Sadly first lot of materials were lost in transit. As soon as they arrive i can start. I have already been looking on the online materials and seems an interesting course. Going to be putting in 24 hours a week to get it finished in 4 months so i can carry on to hopefully complete the degree in 3 years. First course is writing skills and i will be learning the basics of writing, descriptions, characterisation etc. I have already started my writers notebook and i fill in thoughts, ideas, experiences every day.
